Our Journey Unfolds
Alison Gieschenʼs journey began in the classrooms of North Carolina, where she developed a love for writing. With a degree in journalism and English, she spent over 25 years guiding young minds to find their voices. Transitioning to full-time writing and sailing, Alison embraced the open seas and lush landscapes, blending her adventures into compelling works. Since 2017, she and her husband, Daniel, have been circumnavigating the globe on their 43-foot sailboat, exploring over 64 countries. The next epic leg will be venturing into the heart of the Pacific Ocean. Each destination adds depth to her writing, reflecting her lifelong connection with animals and nature. Sailmates
Captain Dan is a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy. He is a three-time national champion in dinghy sailing and worked for the Navy as a marine engineer for 25 years. Dan knows ships inside and out!
First Mate Alison learned to sail during her college years. She crewed on Lake Norman in North Carolina and sailed with her mother, an unbeatable captain, on her Pierson sailboat on the Neuse River in New Bern. She was a teacher and equestrian coach during her adult land life.
Dan and Alison sold their horse farm in New Jersey where they raised their three children. They are on a journey to circumnavigate the globe on their 43-foot Taswell sailboat. Alison is an author and has four books published and is working on several more!
